our question is: ice cube of side 20cm has its centre at the origin and its one side is along the x-axis so that end is at x is equal to plus 10 centimetre
(i hope the question i have on my book is the same as yours, if not ask again)
let us be considering a cube with s = 20cm.
firstly we can conclude that its volume is equal to 20 x 20 x 20 = 8000 cm^3
we have the information that its center is in the origin, hence we can conclude that in the x-axis we will have 10cm in the positive side and the other 10cm in the negative side, and will happen in horizontal and vertical direction. then none of the sides will be along the x-axis.
hence, we can conclude that the cube can not have a side along the x-axis because the center of the side is in the origin.
i hope your
