Western disturbances causes rainfall during winters in north Western part of the India
Western disturbances are the winds which originates over Mediterranean Sea in winters. These winds are responsible for causing rain in "north western part" of India during winter months. These winds caused rainfall which is beneficial for the rabi crops such as "wheat" which is grown in north western parts of India in states of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, western UP etc.
Southwest monsoon are formed after the summers and responsible for causing the maximum rainfall throughout the country. Western disturbances are very short lived it lasts for only some weeks, but South west monsoon remains active for several months and the major areas of agriculture is dependent on effects of monsoon.
